MONDAY
Boys basketball: Franklin Regional made it to the WPIAL Class 5A championship game last season, and the Panthers hope to begin another run as they open the postseason against Thomas Jefferson at 8 p.m. at Norwin.
Hockey: A local rivalry will help get a pair of area teams ready for the PIHL Class AA postseason as Latrobe takes on Hempfield at 7:15 p.m. at Nevin Arena.
Baldwin visits Franklin Regional at 7:20 at Center Ice, and Penn-Trafford skates against Plum at 9 at Pittsburgh Sports Arena.
TUESDAY
Girls basketball: The WPIAL Class 5A bracket commences with Penn-Trafford taking on Trinity at 6:30 p.m. at Mt. Lebanon. Franklin Regional plays South Fayette at 8 at Keystone Oaks.
Hockey: Norwin travels to play a Class A game against Westmont Hilltop at 7:15 p.m. at Cambria County War Memorial.
WEDNESDAY
Boys basketball: Derry will take the court for a WPIAL playoff game for the first time in a dozen years as the Trojans face Blackhawk in a Class 4A first-round game at 8 p.m. at North Allegheny.
Belle Vernon opens the WPIAL Class 4A playoffs against Highlands at 8 p.m. at North Hills.
THURSDAY
Boys basketball: WPIAL Class A No. 4 seed Monessen returns to the court after a first-round bye. The Greyhounds face St. Joseph.
Greensburg Central Catholic plays Cornell in a second-round Class A game at a time and site to be determined.
Hockey: County teams Greensburg Salem and Kiski Area face off at 8:35 p.m. at Nevin Arena.
FRIDAY
Boys basketball: Heritage Conference champion Ligonier Valley begins its title defense in District 6 Class 3A as it hosts the winner of Tuesday’s Mount Union-Central Cambria game at 7 p.m.
Jeannette will take on Sewickley Academy in the WPIAL Class 2A second round at a time and site to be announced.
Girls basketball: Norwin, seeded fourth in the eight-team Class 6A tournament, gets back to it as the Knights take on Mt. Lebanon in a quarterfinal game.
No. 3 seed Greensburg Central Catholic returns from a first-round bye in Class A to take on Monday’s Quigley/Mapletown winner.
Wrestling: The PIAA Class AA Southwest Regional tournament gets underway at IUP’s Kovalchick Center.
Swimming: The WPIAL Class AA diving championships will be at South Park.
SATURDAY
Boys basketball: Class 6A No. 2 seed Latrobe returns to action after a first-round bye. The Wildcats have not played since Feb. 8.
Wrestling: The PIAA Class AA Southwest Regional tournament wraps up at Indiana, and the WPIAL Class AAA individual postseason begins with sectional tournaments.
Swimming: North Allegheny will host the WPIAL Class AAA diving championships.
