Ambridge senior Ryan Adams picked up right where he left off last season when he earned a top-10 finish at the Pennsylvania State Bowling Championships.
Adams came out firing through the first couple weeks of action. Over his first six games bowled, he averaged a 235.33 score and came as close as one can get to a perfect 300 with a 299.
The 235.33 was good enough to position him in first place in the Northwest Section.
In Week 2, he was one of two in the section to clear 200 for all three games as he recorded a 710 series with a high game of 268.
At last year’s state tournament at Princess Lanes in Whitehall, Adams finished eighth overall, just three spots away from making the stepladder finals.
He shot a 192 and 172 in his first two games, but rose into the top 10 with a 237, a 225 and a 213 in Games 3 through 5.
Adams edged Penn-Trafford’s Mike Barvinchak for eighth by one pin. He also finished 42 pins shy of the fifth place needed to move into the stepladder finals.
