Mt. Lebanon junior Patrick Anderson placed 29 th overall Saturday at the 40 th Annual Foot Locker Cross Country National Championships at Morley Field, Balboa Park in San Diego.

The field of 40 runners competed on a dry course under sunny skies with temperatures in the mid 60s.

Anderson was 10 th among his fellow junior racers with a time of 16 minutes, 16.4 seconds.

The only boy in the field from Pennsylvania, he qualified for the national race by earning a top-10 finish at the Northeast Regional meet Nov. 24 in New York City.

Anderson capped his 2018 high school season by first earning a runner-up finish in the boys AAA race at the WPIAL championships Oct. 25 at Cal U (Pa.).

But he wouldn’t take a back seat to anyone at the PIAA championships as he captured the state title with a time of 16:03.
