5 players to watch

Bryce Butler, Latrobe (Sr., 6-5, G) — West Liberty recruit is one of area’s more versatile scorers and team players. Averaged 20 points, 6.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists for high-scoring Wildcats.

Reed Fenton, Latrobe (Sr., 6-4, G) — With a silky pull-up jumper, long frame and advanced court sense, he is among WPIAL’s top players. Lehigh recruit averaged 22 points, 4.5 assists and three steals.

Nick Leopold, Franklin Regional (Sr., 5-9, G) — Brings big-game experience and football toughness to the Panthers’ backcourt. Quietly good shooter who also can get to the rim and defend well.

Geoff Helm, Greensburg C.C. (Sr., 6-5, G) — Added height, weight and a Division II scholarship in the offseason, committing to Shippensburg. Rangy, inside-outside scorer scored 17.5 points a game last season.

Marrek Paola, Ligonier Valley (Sr., 6-8, C) — Polished big man with crafty perimeter skills, he helped lead Rams to District 6 Class 3A title. Led Westmoreland County at 24.3 points and 13.7 rebounds per game.

Girls

Dymond Crawford, Jeannette (Sr., 5-9, G) — Fiery backcourt leader for the Jayhawks can score in bunches but will need help for her team to navigate through a new-look section. Averaged 20.4 points, 8.4 rebounds and 2.4 assists.

Anna Eisaman, Greensburg C.C. (Sr., 5-8, G) — A senior leader with experience and scoring ability that complements her defensive effort. Averaged 15.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 2.0 steals.

Megan Kallock, Greensburg Salem (Sr., 5-7, G) — Quick-to-the-rim guard can string together points in a hurry. Led Westmoreland in scoring as a junior at 23.6 a game but also contributed 5.0 rebounds, 2.9 steals and 2.1 assists.

Cali Konek, Franklin Regional (Sr.,5-7, G) — A transfer from Southmoreland, Konek will play her third WPIAL season at her fourth school. Gifted long-range shooter and Charlotte recruit averaged 17.9 points, 4.2 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 3.2 steals.

Maggie Moore, Southmoreland (Sr., 6-2, F) — Navy recruit can be a dominant low-post presence for the Scotties. Her ability to alter shots and rebound will be a team trademark. Averaged 11.1 points, 12.4 rebounds and 4.1 blocks.
