The Pine-Richland hockey team (12-0) will send five players to the PIHL Class AA All-Star Game, tying Hampton for the most participants in Class AA.
The game is 4 p.m. Jan. 27 at RMU Island Sports Center. Rams selections were: seniors Brandon Kashur, Jared Eggert, Jordan Rosenbaum, Will Studt and junior Daniel Stauffer. Studt won’t be able to play because of a scheduling conflict, so teammate Nicholas Lindauer was chosen as a replacement.
This is Stauffer’s second selection. The goaltender is leading Class AA with 12 wins and has a 1.59 goals-against average.
Studt, a three-time all-star, leads the team with 24 points and 14 goals.
“Danny, on the backend, his work speaks for itself, for sure,” Pine-Richland coach Jordan Yoklic said. “We have a great group of seniors on our team, and I’ve found that they’re all all-star caliber players.
“Will is having a great season for us. He’s been so important, but it was a nice touch to have Lindauer fill in for him at the all-star game. It’s great to get another guy in there, and he deserves it.”
Although Lindauer only has played in six games this season, he has been an efficient part of the team’s offense with five goals and six assists.
The team’s other all-star forwards, Kashur and Eggert, also have played key roles for the top-ranked team in Class AA. Kashur is second on the team with nine goals and third with 19 points. Eggert leads Pine-Richland with 16 assists and is second with 23 points.
Rosenbaum was the lone defenseman selected. He has helped the Rams allow 11 fewer goals than any team in PIHL Class AA. He also has 17 points.
“These guys, they’re definitely meeting, if not exceeding, all expectations,” Yoklic said. “That goes for a lot of our players. I’ve coached these guys in the past. I knew they had all the talents and abilities.
“It’s just great to see them reach their personal goals and keep contributing as individuals to make the team better. It speaks volumes about our organization as a whole. I know our Pine-Richland family, they’ll definitely support those guys at the game.”
