Here’s a look at the TribLive HSSN baseball all-stars for the 2024 season.
Terrific 10
David Posey
North Allegheny, sr., P/1B
Posey knew his Tigers needed a big outing from him on the mound in the WPIAL 6A final, and he responded with a no-hitter and 11 strikeouts. The Navy baseball recruit went 7-0 with a 2.39 ERA while striking out 53 in 38 innings. He also contributed at the plate with 15 RBIs and a .395 on-base percentage. The WPIAL title was a record ninth for North Allegheny.
Gavin Kelly
Central Catholic, sr., C
Kelly built a reputation as one of the WPIAL’s top defensive catchers, but he’s also good with the bat. The West Virginia recruit batted .490 this season with a .643 on-base percentage. In 71 plate appearances, he struck out only three times while collecting 10 extra-base hits, 14 runs and 16 RBIs for a WPIAL 6A playoff team. He homered twice and had three triples.
Graham Keen

Only a freshman, Keen arrived in the WPIAL with a big reputation as one of the nation’s top-ranked ninth graders, but didn’t show his age. He batted .355 with six home runs and 24 RBIs as the No. 3 hitter for the WPIAL 6A runner-up. He also pitched a team-high 44 1/3 innings, going 6-1 with a 1.10 ERA and 53 strikeouts.
David Shields
Mt. Lebanon, sr., P/OF
The Miami (Fla.) recruit showed everybody, including the dozens of MLB scouts following him, why he is expected to be selected in the upcoming MLB Draft. Shields went 5-1 and only allowed two earned runs in 35 innings pitched, walking four and striking out 63. He was pretty good with the stick too, batting .383 with 16 runs and 18 RBIs. Mt. Lebanon was the WPIAL 6A runner-up.
Ryan Petras

Petras batted .452 with one home run, 27 runs scored and 17 RBIs for the WPIAL 5A runners-up. He reached base at a .565 rate and stole 20 bases. He was one of the WPIAL’s top defensive shortstops with a .973 fielding percentage playing home games on the natural surface of Purkey Field. He committed to Northwestern baseball but has drawn college football offers since.
Blake Primrose

Primrose had 18 extra-base hits including eight home runs while also catching a North Catholic pitching staff that compiled a 1.82 ERA. The St. Joseph’s recruit batted .446 with a .548 on-base percentage, 15 runs and 28 RBIs. The Trojans won the WPIAL Class 4A title, earning their first district trophy in six years.
Jake Robinson
Montour, sr., SS/P
The Kent State recruit was a three-year starter at shortstop for a Montour team that won 58 games, three section titles and a state championship in that span. This season, he batted .390 with 17 runs and 22 RBIs while posting a .526 on-base percentage. On the mound, he went 4-1 with a 2.12 ERA and 60 strikeouts in 33 innings. In a 14-inning WPIAL finals loss, he pitched 7 1/3 innings, allowing one earned run on five hits with two walks and 10 strikeouts.
Gio LoNero
