Imani Christian
6-0, senior, G
PIAA transfer rules forced Brazil to sit out the postseason a year ago, but this time, he played a leading role in Imani Christian winning back-to-back WPIAL and PIAA Class A titles. Brazil averaged a team-best 19.8 points for the Saints, highlighted by a 48-point effort in a PIAA semifinal win over Bishop Carroll. He has Hofstra among his college options.
Rowan Carmichael
Avonworth
5-11, junior, G
WPIAL Class 4A was full of terrific scorers this winter and Carmichael was right there among the best. He averaged 21.3 points and came through with a 36-point effort in a WPIAL quarterfinal win. He already has more than 1,500 career points and owns the school’s scoring record with a year still remaining. He’s the son of LaRoche men’s basketball coach Hermie Carmichael.
Brandin Cummings
Lincoln Park
6-4, senior, G
Cummings was almost in shooting range once he crossed midcourt. The Pitt recruit averaged 24.6 points and made a team-high 85 3-pointers that helped Lincoln Park repeat as WPIAL and PIAA Class 4A champions. He also won a WPIAL title as a freshman and capped his career with a 37-point performance in the state finals for 2,224 career points.
Elijah Guillory
Moon
6-5, senior, G
A Youngstown State recruit, Guillory led Moon to its first WPIAL title since 2017. He averaged 21.1 points, 6.7 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.8 steals per game for the WPIAL 5A champion. One of his best performances came in the WPIAL semifinals, where he scored 39 points to get past Thomas Jefferson, 67-65.
Max Hurray
North Catholic
6-2, senior, G
A standout shooter, Hurray averaged 23.9 points for a team that reached the WPIAL and PIAA quarterfinals. He made eight 3-pointers and scored 30 points in a season-ending loss to eventual state champion Lincoln Park. A 1,700-point career scorer, Hurray is headed to Coker, an NCAA Division II program in Hartsville, S.C.
Peter Kramer
Hampton
6-5, senior, G
A Lehigh recruit, Kramer averaged 22 points and six rebounds for Hampton, which reached the WPIAL Class 4A finals and the state semifinals. He made 79 3-pointers as one of the WPIAL’s top shooters. This year’s was his second time in the finals, having won a WPIAL title as a sophomore at Shady Side Academy. He graduates with 1,670 career points.
Josh Pratt
Aliquippa
6-1, sophomore, G
Some of Pratt’s top performances came in his biggest games. He had 33 points in a WPIAL finals win over Greensburg Central Catholic and scored 37 in a state finals victory over Holy Cross. Overall, he averaged a team-best 17 points. Pratt was the Quips’ only starter that didn’t also play football, but his singular focus paid off. He recently added his first offer from Hofstra.
Joseph Roth
Ellwood City
6-5, senior, F
A multi-sport athlete, Roth averaged 25.2 points, 14.6 rebounds 6.1 assists, 2.9 blocks and 2.1 steals for the Wolverines, who reached the WPIAL 3A quarterfinals and the second round of states. He eclipsed the 2,000-point mark for his career and won a WPIAL title as a freshman, but will attend Ohio State as a swimmer.
Meleek Thomas
Lincoln Park
6-4, junior, G
Thomas showed again why top college teams are recruiting him. He averaged a double-double with 23.5 points and 10.8 rebounds and added six assists and three steals per game as Lincoln Park defended its WPIAL and PIAA titles. The Leopards are 58-4 combined over the past two seasons. Thomas’ college offers includes UConn, Duke, Kansas and Kentucky, among others.
Courtney Wallace
Neighborhood Academy
6-3, junior, G
Wallace helped put his neighborhood on the WPIAL basketball map by reaching the finals for the first time this winter. The Yale recruit averaged 24.3 points, 10.2 rebounds and 8.1 assists for the WPIAL Class A runner-up, while also adding five steals and two blocks per game. He’s already nearing 1,400 career points with another season to go.
